Richard was appointed as Chief Executive at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in June 2017. He joined Sherwood from University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust where he worked as Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer for four years and he previously worked at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS FT. 
 
Richard believes all patients should receive the level of care we would want our friends and families to receive. He views teamwork, lots of encouragement, support and kindness as essential to the delivery of high quality, safe patient care. Sherwood did very well in the 2018 and 2019 national staff engagement survey and the Trust had its most recent CQC assessment in January and February 2020.
